The Arts add exceptional culture and vibrancy to our city, and allows for individuals to express themselves in ways that words may not be able to entirely convey.
It also serves as remembrance to history and as honor to one’s ancestors. And oftentimes lives on for centuries beyond when originally created and expresses one’s story for generations to come.
San Francisco has always been an artistic place with colorful pasts, and has frequently served as a crusader for monumental civil and economic issues that benefit people today.
Many of the campaigns San Francisco has been involved in, used art as the orator. A couple examples being: music and murals, expressing support or opposition to a particular ideal.
The Arts not only exemplify culture and amplify voices, but also serves as a powerful economic engine.
