Public Transit is Critical for Our Economy

  • Hard-working San Franciscans rely on public transit to get to work or school, to buy groceries, to get to doctors appointments—and without it they’re unable to support themselves and their families.
  • 12% of Bay Area commuters use public transit to commute to work and 60% use it on a regular basis for special outings. Commute Mode Choice
  • Comparative to driving alone, taking public transportation reduces CO2 emissions by an impressive 45%, and therefore vastly decreases air pollution. UCLA Transportation

Due to these reasons, we believe that not only should we adequately fund transit, San Francisco and Bay Area officials should work together to upgrade our infrastructure by increasing frequency and reliability of our MUNI, BART, and bus lines.
Frequent commuters in San Francisco often complain (and rightfully so) that their mode of transit is often late. In a report done by the SFMTA, only ~80% of arrivals are on-time. SFMTA Transit On-Time Data

Public transit is the future: we can, and must, do better.
